Donald McKay’s Final Resting Place

When Donald McKay was living in East Boston and working busily at the shipyards, his beloved companion and mentor Albenia Martha, his wife, passed away from a brief illness in December of 1848.    They both had close connections with many in the City of Newburyport and he invested in a family plot at the newly opened Oak Hill Cemetery(1847).     Even as he continued to live in East Boston and then later in Hamilton, MA; his family members were interned in the City that gave him his start as a master designer of clipper ships.
